Prepare To Prepare Your Home For Resale

Today's home buyer is much more transient than in our parents and grand parents days. The average home owner will a purchase a home every seven to ten years so it is wise to prepare to prepare your home for resale from the first day you move in to the day you put it back on the market.

Homes are an investment like any other investment that will increase in value if taken care of properly. Choosing the best investments for your home now will save you money in the long run. Aside from the mechanical and structural elements of a home that must be maintained, the interior features are optional but can be the most costly. Knowing which investments to consider will depend on what the future market value will be in your neighborhood and your current lifestyle.

Whether you are a new home buyer or are preparing to sell an existing home, one thing to keep in mind is that value is always perceived and is based on the standard of living a buyer has come to expect. An experienced realtor can best advise you on what the buyers in your area will expect in the next home they purchase. However, in reality, most investments you make on your home now will affect how much it will cost you when you do decide to sell.

A fresh coat of paint and updated flooring is always a good idea when it comes to resale. The saying "you only have one chance to make a first impression" is so true when it comes to home buyers. A home that appears to have been neglected will not sell at the top of the market price and/or will sit on the market longer. Most home buyers don't want to have to make improvements before they can move in so finding a move in ready home is preferred.

Helping homeowners to invest in the right products at the right price is our specialty. We know what products are best suited for resale and rental for the short term and long term investor.
